Nick Johnson and Juan Rivera

Postby Dude86 » Fri Feb 20, 2004 1:30 am

Anyone see anything big coming out of these former yanks this season? We know that with 500 ABs Johnson will hit at least .270-20-85 but does anyone think he'll have a breakout year something like .310-30-110 and what do people see coming out of Juan Rivera? Is he even gonna be an everyday starter?

Johnson is going to a hitter's park, actually has some decent guys hitting around him at the top of that order, and has the potential for a fantastic year, if he can say healthy. Given this wrist problems, though, that is sort of like saying JD Drew is a 40/40 guy, except for the knees. I still plan on picking him up if he is available for like $5 or so.

I wouldn't draft Juan Rivera.

As to Nick, if he didn't have that wrist problem he would be a solid guy to have. Unfortunately they have said he will battle his wrists for his entire career. I'd take a shot at him late enough or cheap enough though.

Nick Johnson's numbers should definately go up this year with the Expos. And I see him having a slug fest at Puerto Rico because the field there is ridiculously small.
