Sell me on Orlando Cabrera!

Postby cwrtlm » Tue Mar 18, 2008 2:46 pm

I got him as my starting SS in a CBS H2H points league. They are projecting him as a top 10 SS. I know last he was hot at the beginning of the year. So does the move to Chi-town help him alot? Is the Sox lineup more potent than the Angels of last year? Will he run as much. I am wondering do I need to make a move to get a guy like Michael Young or is Cabrera similar? Yunel Escobar is on WW is he worth a pick-up or play over Cabrera?
Thanks

I like Cabrera this year. Sox park is a great hitters park, OCab is in a contract year and Ozzie Guillen loves guys who can run. The addition of Nick Swisher to an aging but powerful lineup is a plus as well.
It all adds up to a good year for Orlando (IMO)...and I drafted him too.

eh i think he's an average SS at best. when i do my drafts i always like to shoot top 5 because there is a huge drop-off after tulo.

1. hanley
2. reyes
3. rollins
4. jeter
5. tulo
6. guillen

production drops significantly after those guys IMO. i have one of those guys in all of my leagues.

Even if he is top 10, and he has a shot, its more like he's a second tier SS. There's a big drop off after the top tier.

Still, I think he'll do fine. We can't all get top tier SS, so the trick is to have used the pick you didn't get a top tier SS with to get solid value.
