Mhm, which is another reason I was against the Garza/Delmon deal, but I won't go into that anymore. Though if we take Pedro Alvarez in the draft and Jennings developes well, I'll be happy ... oh and that Garza doesn't suck up the joint.

Though Kazmir could be gone by the time some of those other arms mature and come around enough to really help the team. Oh and we also have Hellickson in High A this year, who I wouldnt be surprised if he was in AA at some point this year (like McGee/Davis last year).

Just a hunch but Price will be up by June. He's very polished and AA/AAA hitters are going to have a tough time trying to hit this big lefty's 95+ heater/plus slider combo. Dominant pitchers, regardless of seasoning, tend to make it a no brainer for the big club to call them up: Hamels, Lincecum, Hughes, Gallardo, Joba, Kennedy, etc in recent years (I'm sure I missed a lot more).

Well this latest injury means he will probably spend most of the season in the minors.

this is good...it's saving his arm this year meaning he might be not on some strict IP limit if he's called up in sept.

Top pick LHP David Price threw a successful live batting practice today at the minor league complex, but apparently needs some more work before he makes his first extended spring start. Price, who was hampered by a muscle strain in his left elbow near the end of spring training, said earlier in his rehab that he was set to do four extended spring starts before making his debut with Class-A Vero Beach.

ST. PETERSBURG -- David Price is close to resuming his season.

The Rays prospect did not begin the season with Class A Vero Beach as expected due to left elbow soreness and has been on a rehab assignment in St. Petersburg. He threw Monday, and according to Rays executive vice president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, the club expects Price to throw five innings "later in the week" in an extended Spring Training game.

"And from there, we'll monitor [the situation]," Friedman said. "But my best guess now is that we'll be sending him out [likely to Class A Vero Beach after the five-inning stint]."
