This guy's still only 23, and he's gotten about 15 wins a year for the past 3 years. But he's still only ranked in the 30s and 40s of starters in most leagues. With an improving defense behind him, anything's possible (as long as he keeps the weight off!)

I want to see what he weighs in at spring training...before I make any predictions on him....when he is in shape...he can be very good...but when he is overweight...he looses control and velocity...he is a tuff one to predict.... :-/

I think that his weight has been affecting his performance for the last few years.

hits per 9 innings
2001 7.45
2002 8.49
2003 8.65

k's per 9
2001 8.55
2002 6.39
2003 6.42

Granted, his walks have gone down each year but the fact that his k's have gone down while his hits allowed have gone up scares me.
If he's there late in my 20 team league I'll take a chance. Otherwise, I'll steer clear.

I like Sabathia. It seems that he finished up pretty strong last year. He stikes out a lot of batters without many walks, too. Also, his weak division is a plus for him.

C.C. is a real mystery. I wouldn't be surprised if he won a Cy Young this year and I wouldn't be surprised if he had an awful year.

No C.C. for me. He's thrown a lot of pitches at a young age, never had a great WHIP (1.35, 1.36, 1.30), one year with a solid ERA (4.40, 4.37, 3.61), and pitches for a still bad cleveland team. By the time I'd consider taking him, someone else will have already drafted him, which is fine by me.
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'
