I saw him break his hitless streak tonight in Columbus. He'll be fine, but I did see a little frustration when he was in the field. I think he thought he would be up now.

Gordon's 2007 ST Stats

.317 AVG .556 SLG .419 OBP 2 HR 12 RBI 14 K 9 BB

Longoria's 2008 ST Stats

.262 AVG .595 SLG .407 OBP 3 HR 10 RBI 7 K 10 BB

Maybe they had Gordon's struggles in mind? Also, its not like he tore up AAA last season:

.269 AVG .398 OBP .420 SLG .888 OPS

5 HR 19 RBI 29 K 22 BB

I said from the start that he would not be there to start the season and I agree with giving him some time if that is what they feel is right. The one thing I think they did wrong was saying he had a shot to make it out of ST. Friedman said last night that they feel like they overstated his chances of making it out of ST and that was there fault

With Willy Aybar still struggling with a Hammy injury the Rays are talking about calling Evan up

Evan Longoria wasn't included in Triple-A Durham's lineup Friday, leading to speculation that he could be on his way to the majors to replace Willy Aybar.

Aybar may be DL bound because of a hamstring injury. If Longoria comes up now, it probably wouldn't be a permanent promotion -- ideally, the Rays want him spending seven or eight weeks in the minors to guarantee he's not a super-two player at the end of 2010 -- but perhaps he could force the team to keep him.

Aybar had an MRI on his hammy prior to the game today. They are going to release the info after the game and find out if a DL stint will be needed. If I hear anything official I will pass it on ;-D
