Rivas or Thurston; backup 2B?????

Postby bsiegert9 » Sat Mar 01, 2003 7:32 pm

A couple young 2B I have been eyeing as a backup (to my auto-drafted Biggio) is Luis Rivas or Joe Thurston....any input fellas?
Are they the top young 2B coming into the league this season???
Thanks!
PS- Would dropping Biggio and picking up both guys, be a risk??

I'd keep Biggio, because he's a proven veteran. If you needed someone as a backup right now, I'd grab Rivas. Thurston is unproven right now, so it will be difficult to predict what he will be. Maybe once Thurston has landed the leadoff or #2 spot everyday, then jump on him. Another option would be Bobby Hill, if he's available in your league. He should be their leadoff guy everyday this year.

Rivas vs. Hill

Postby bsiegert9 » Sat Mar 01, 2003 7:49 pm

I forgot about Hill. How would you rank him vs. Rivas?
I am gonna grab one young guy as a backup, both are available. Who would you take??
Thanks

Biggio and Rivas would be a safe call at the 2 bag.

Grab Rivas - keep Biggio.
