Lidge’s absence also triggers a chain reaction that so far has stopped short of returning righthander Brett Myers to the bullpen. Setup man Tom Gordon will be the temporary closer. Gordon, 40, had 34 saves in 39 chances in 2006, but his health is problematic, too. He has been on the disabled list in each of the past two seasons.
I'm in a league that counts Holds as well... is Gordon worth giving a shot to?? My only holds option right now is Zumaya, who is out for the first half... I'm looking more for holds guys, but Gordon may find a shot in my pen... what do you guys think?? Any input on how Gordon will do??

Mar 14 Ken Mandel, of MLB.com, reports Philadelphia Phillies CL Brad Lidge (knee) threw 35 pitches in batting practice Friday, March 14, and will do so again Monday, March 17. If that goes well, he could be ready for a game Wednesday, March 19, or Thursday, March 20.
Sounds like he's on track to be the closer opening day. Flash still set up, and Myers still in the rotation. Don't press any panic buttons.

Flash is still a decent speculative pickup to make if you have room. If Lidge isn't ready, Gordon will 100% get the save opportunities.
