I dont understand the "Minimum Innings Pitched" Rule

Postby BigD_95 » Mon Mar 17, 2008 10:01 am

This is my 1st year doing Fantasy Baseball and everyone I have playing is new. What does that rule mean?

Every pitcher on my team must pitch 7 inns?

thanks

I'm guessing it's a weekly, Head-to-Head (H2H) league?

Minimum Innings Pitched is a team minimum to make sure that someone doesn't play one player for 1 inning, who strikes out everyone, and so then just stops using pitchers to get a 0.00 WHIP and a 0.00 ERA. In roto leagues, they're a minimum for the season; in H2H leagues they're a minimum for the week.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.

Yeah I know in our league you would get guys who go heavy batting in the draft and then just throw low ERA/WHIP relievers without the minimum innings pitched rule. 7 innings in a standard HTH league is pretty easy to reach per week but it likely means throwing at least two starters (especially if you have a pitcher who gets yanked). Keeps 'em honest!

7 Innings still makes it very easy to steal stats, but in yahoo public leagues it makes it a nice counter to the streamers. Let them get Ws and Ks, you take ERA and WHIP and compete for SVs.
