It is very arguable if a streaky guy is less valuable or not. During their hot streaks they single handedly win you a week, during the cold ones it hurts you.

Soriano's power was streaky last year, but he always gave me a solid average and SBs.
Adam Dunn is the streakiest player I have ever owned. You know he is going to give you 40 HRs, you just don't know when. He is capable of hitting 10 HRs in a week and then going MIA for a month.
Franceour has also been very streaky the past few years, although he was much more consistent last year.
You feel the streaks in H2H much more then roto.
Last year, when I owned Adam Dunn, I kept track of the weeks that he hurt my team relative to how many times he carried my team. He hurt my team 14/22 weeks. 8/22 weeks he helped my team and 4 of those weeks he was a significant portion of my offense. Out of the 12 weeks he hurt my team there were 7 that made him a complete liability to my team. Ryan Howard was scary similar to Dunn when you compare the two and what they give you week to week. Howard can absolutely carry you for 3 straight weeks and then he will disappear for a month.
Where a guy like Ichiro helped my team a whopping 19/22 weeks.
I prefer consistency over hot streaks in H2H.
Of course all of this changes if your league has OBP. Howard and Dunn draw many walks so they give you positive production in that stat almost every week.

I have to disagree. I had Mr Jones last year, and he was incredibly consistent. Month after month, he was continually horrible... there's a difference between inconsistent and just plain bad.
Anyhoo, although I've never owned him, I've heard a lot of people complain Beltran is very hot and cold. Also, aside from last year (when he struggled pretty much continuously), Jason Bay was pretty maddening to own.

I'll add pure AVG or pure Speed guys are streaky too. Ichiro is incredibly streaky during the season, he is borderline worthless for months at a time and then just a god for other months.
The fewer categories a player gives you the more streaky they will be since they can't be helping you in other areas while they slump in the primary one.
