Right-hander Eric Gagne lost in arbitration and will make $5 million this year.
Gagne had asked for $8 million, which would have been the highest award even for a first-time arbitration-eligible player. With Albert Pujols set to sign a multiyear deal, it looks like Derek Jeter will get to keep his record.

That kind of suprised me....I figured he had a good shot at winning it.... :-/

England's Worcester Canoe Club set the world record for paddling a hand-propelled bathtub. The 25 man team covered a distance of 55 miles, 425 yards in 24 hours on September 28 and 29, 1979.

I thought Gagne would get it. That suprises me.

There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.

I don't think it will help the dodgers when it comes time to sign him to a long term contract. On the other hand a guy like Smoltz who has been in the majors for years and is proven is making $10 million a year so I think for a young guy like Gagne $5 million is pretty darn good.

DHC, I gotta kid you--Gagne "looses" arbitration? he he....

Anyway, I thought he'd have a good shot, too. I mean, Cy Young, all those saves. Amazing. I bet the new GM won't keep him... :)
I'm back. Sorta.

Do not boo Johnny.
