Gange looses Arb.

Right-hander Eric Gagne lost in arbitration and will make $5 million this year.
Gagne had asked for $8 million, which would have been the highest award even for a first-time arbitration-eligible player. With Albert Pujols set to sign a multiyear deal, it looks like Derek Jeter will get to keep his record.

That kind of suprised me....I figured he had a good shot at winning it....

hmmm, the Dodgers should have gave in, Gagne will be the next Hoffman. (Thats if he isn't already better than Hoffman in his prime )

I don't think it will help the dodgers when it comes time to sign him to a long term contract. On the other hand a guy like Smoltz who has been in the majors for years and is proven is making $10 million a year so I think for a young guy like Gagne $5 million is pretty darn good.
