I have a few draft rules I always stick to. #2 on that list is this...If a SP throws 190+ innings in their first full seasons after throwing less than 100 the previous seasons. Wainwright threw 202 last seasons and 75 in '06. '05 was his first year but I will not count the 2 IP.
He threw over 700 innings from '01-'05 in the minors and has not had any trouble. Steady progression or big load last year and due for regression?
How will Wainwright react this season?
think he will be fine and be a top 10 NL pitcher easy but I would like to hear more thoughts from some Cafe vets.

you know, to me, he's one of those guys that could breakout but you don't hear a lot on him. any time i read an article and wainwright is mentioned, the answer is just a quick,"yeah he'll do good". then they move on. The stuff is there, and he only got better as the year moved on, so with that in mind I would agree with you and say he has the potential for a 10 ten NL SP.

Yeah I'd say his Wins will definitely be lacking, but I'd own him. Esspecially where you can draft him.

He's a guy I've been targeting, he was outstanding for me last year in the 2nd half.
7-5, 2.71 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 77 K's in 99.2 Innings

Yeh, I had him almost the whole second half last year and kept waiting to drop him after a rough patch and, well, it never came. I think he will be on alot of winning rosters this season.
