Rich Harden

NEVER AGAIN - if you've ever owned him the wound is still fresh. Looks like he's getting ready to do it again. He has had a very promising spring. LOOK OUT 8-o

Have never owned him before this season...but have been able to pick him in the 18th and 19th rounds in a couple drafts. He is well worth the risk at that point in the draft IMO.

We need further conversation about this article. I would like some more opinions on this theory.

I think articles such as this can simply be a useful tool. If you're looking to pick up a pitcher, maybe steer clear of Harang and Lackey if a pitcher of similar value is available. You can use such information to possibly safeguard yourself without losing any quality. Is Lackey's current injury due to the 3500 pitch stat? Who knows? But the article was written before Lackey got hurt.

It doesn't need to work every time, it needs to work the majority of the time. You don't "lose" anything by avoiding a player. If you avoid Lackey and he doesn't get hurt you still got a different player who was probably just as good as Lackey instead.

Ditto on Harden. I wouldn't have drafted him last year. I'll take the gamble late this year.

Beckett would be the SP I wouldn't touch early this year. Loved him last year as a bargain player - but I'm not gambling on a repeat.

Adam Dunn. A guy I would defend previous years against an undeserved 'unownable' tag - not touching him in the top 40 picks this year.

V-Mart, Martin - V-Mart's 1B eligibility does nothing for me. Quality C options - but going a little early for me.

Cano - Just really doesn't stand out in any stat. Nice avg, decent R and RBI #'s - but I won't pay a premium for largely mediocre stats.

Putz - way too risky placing him among elite closers coming off an injury.

I said that after I KEPT him a couple years ago - but I drafted him in round 19 this year - figuring he is replaceable at that point in the draft.

Guys I avoid:
Smoltz/Saito - age has to catch up to them sometime
Jeter - more name now than a worthwhile pick
Hermida - The hype has him off the board too early
Alex Gordon - I took him too early last year and had him all year I'll let someone else predict his breakout
Hunter Pence - Going much too early for me (Though I loved having him last year)

Based on ADPs that I think are way high for my tastes:

Ryan Braun
Grady Sizemore (those numbers to not equal "elite")
Russell Martin
Justin Morneau (after that second half, he still goes late third/early fourth?)
Nick Markakis (I love Markakis, but why take him two rounds before Hunter Pence or Corey Hart?)
Chone Figgins

And another vote for Rich Harden ...

Delmon Young - because he sucks

Bertie Pujols - I would absolutely love to have him cheaply, but I'd rather let him be someone else headache this year unfortunately :-/

C.Grandy - I can see a slight regression happening this year :-/

VMart - not worth a 3rd/4th round pick, I'm sure if you look hard enough one of the lower catchers will be just as Napoli I mean valuable.

Erik Bedard - Mel Stottlemyre is now his pitching coach.

Eric Byrnes - people are paying for 50 steals.

Carlos Delgado - WRIST SURGERY ALERT!
