Have a good team...but what should I do with Albert?

Postby bacdahelup » Sat Mar 15, 2008 9:47 am

20 team dynasty head to head typical scoring wif holds
This team is going on 5yrs old, many of these guys I've had the entire time.

c Napoli
1b Pujols
2b Weeks
3b Aramis
ss Young
OF Sizemore
OF Chris Young
OF Bay
Util Andruw Jones
Bn Kelly Johnson

SP: Beckett, Hamels, Felix, Chris Young, Bonderman, Willis, Joba
RP: Hoffman, Lyon, Gagne, Neshek

I either go all out for holds or saves, this year it's saves. Having extra good SPs is of great value.
Have been shopping Pujols, Bay and Jones.

possible moves: Could possibly get a deal like: Arod-Swisher for Sizemore-Aramis-Bonderman (20 teams so a decent starter like Bondo is valuable, waivers slim-none) Rankings have them at approx 1-105 for 15-30-150
Victorino for Jones
Berkman-Byrnes-Lidge for Pujols-Jones-Neshek

I wish the guy would give me Jones for Swisher str8 up since they are practically the same player, I want that 1B eligibility for obvious reasons. Any advice appreciated, I have to take off for a while but will come back later and
check out other questions.

I would instead target someone like Conor Jackson in a trade...he will break out this year and would fill in nicely if needed. Plus, you wont have to pay too much for him

Exactly what i was thinking. I wonder how long Pujols' elbow will hold up. Maybe package Pujols and Bondo for a Conor Jackson and a SP with an upgrade over Bondo?

Please don't trade Pujols and Bonderman for Conor Jackson and a better SP.

Pujols has low value right now because he's hurt, but just remember how amazing the guy is when he's healthy. This is a nagging injury, I personally would hold on to him cause the guy is a ridiculous hitter.

Agreed...when I suggested Jackson I was thinking you could give up someone like Kelly Johnson for him...or even a lesser player...maybe a two player trade involving one of your closers, etc. Kelly and Lyon for Jackson and a solid closer maybe

any opinions on the trade possibilities I posted?
Ive looked into about every other 1B for trade and been rebuffed on most. Tough to trade in a
20 team league with no depth. adrian gonzo, alex gordon, conor, swish, berks, votto, ortiz etc most
say no way rt off the bat.

I apologize, I didnt read the details of your league carefully, I have my head up my you know what sometimes, lol. I am just concerned with Pujols significant drop in numbers and if he goes for surgery then it appears he will miss significant time. What about Johnson and Bonderman for a 1b and a catcher?

again, it's a 20 team league. You can't just trade a 2b and get a 1b in return unless the other owner
has two 1b. It just doesn't work. I could drastically overpay and still be denied because the other guy
will have to fill 1B from the waiver wire with the likes of Kevin Millar, Matt Stairs, Vidro and so on.
Swisher and Berkman are available. Quantity trumps quality here.

I hate to keep asking so much but just want an opinion on the original posted trade possibilities:
Arod-Swisher for Sizemore-Aramis-Bonderman (20 teams so a decent starter like Bondo is valuable, waivers slim-none) Rankings have them at approx 1-105 for 15-30-150
Victorino for Jones
Berkman-Byrnes-Lidge for Pujols-Jones-Neshek

Looks really solid for a 20-teamer. I wouldn't make any significant changes.
