Rate my 2nd year Keeper team *WHIR*

Postby EClayton08 » Fri Mar 14, 2008 11:57 pm

I just finished drafting my 2nd year keeper league (first year we kept players). It is 14 teams 5x5 1250IP max league. The * indicates my 4 keepers.

C- Brian McCann (5th)
1B- Lance Berkman (2nd)
2B- B.J. Upton (17th)*
3B- David Wright (1st)
SS- Troy Tulowitzki (15th)*
OF- Manny Ramirez (3rd)
OF- Torii Hunter (5th)
OF- Chris B. Young (14th)*
Util- Evan Longoria (19th)*
Util- Andruw Jones(8th)
BN- Hideki Matsui (7th)
BN- Justin Upton (14th)
BN- Kevin Youkilis (12th)

SP- John Smoltz (4th)
SP- Carlos Zambrano (4th)
RP- Takashi Saito (4th)
RP- Trevor Hoffman (6th)
P- Brett Myers (7th)
P- Ben Sheets (8th)
P- Chad Cordero (9th)
BN- Jered Weaver (11th)
BN- Derek Lowe (13th)
BN- Mark Prior (20th)

most of the stud SP were kept, so I'm happy how my SP ended up with. 8 of top 10 were keepers.

Looks pretty good to me. BTW, how was Wright not a keeper? 8-o

I think you could stand to get a bit more speed in your lineup. Perhaps you could use someone like Hunter or Jones to upgrade there. I do think Jones will have a better season, though, so it won't be awful if you keep him.

Pitching is average, but as you said, if a lot of the top guys were kept, you did good considering. Your top closers are getting up there in age, so let's hope they don't hit their walls this season. Assuming Sheets can stay healthy, that's actually a good SP staff. Zambrano should bounce back and Meyers is good enough to be the opening day starter in the eyes of PHI. Well done overall.

Any thoughts on mine?

our rules are whatever round a player is drafted, you sacrifice a round the next year. So Wright was drafted in 1st round and wasn't able to be kept. Next year its 2 round sacrifice, so I think I'll probably use same keepers next year.

It looks like you got a pretty solid team there to me.

I don't really like Hideki that much this year. I had him last year, and he was hit and miss. Plus, I think Damon is supposed to play more this year, and then Matsui will just DH with Giambi possibly getting in on his AB's. I could be off on that though. I guess I like Youk as your backup Cather. But you could maybe take a flyer on a sleeper SP or something.

Help with mine?

I doubt I'll play Hideki much, he was there with SP getting weak so I took him to use a trade bait later on for a SP possibly.

your link didn't work, it goes to post a new thread.
