I'll vote yes. I think he's not amazing but is passable and makes up for what he seems to lack in range (this from articles on the subject, more than having watched a lot of Yankees games...) w/ elan? I dunno, kind of a push. And defense kind of falls by the wayside in fantasy most of the time, except as a possible negative for pitchers?

I think he is more good than bad. If that makes any sense. Apparently he's worked hard in the off season to improve his foot work so we'll see.

He rated pretty bad in most metrics last year, his biggest problem is going to his left. A lot of that was because his knee was hurt most of last year, and he has worked a lot on mobility in the off season as Yoda said.

I don't know how you can say Derek Jeter is a bad shortstop. He is overrated though. He is not great, but he is good. And the question was not if he is as good as he gets credit for, but if he is a good shortstop. He definatly gets my vote.

I say he's in the bottom half of all SS. He looks better than he is because he makes flashy plays that basically are caused by him being out of position and having bad range. The spectacular "in the hole" plays that he makes are plays that most other SS make look routine. I say he's easily the most overrated defensive player in baseball. The fact that he has one Gold Glove let alone several is a joke.

He does have great leadership abilities and the calmest eyes I've ever seen though. ;-7

From everything I've seen his range for ground balls is really awful but he has a good arm and does great on pop flies.

No. Good implies that he's better than half of the other starting shortstops which isn't the case. He's not a liability by any means, but he certainly isn't a plus player with the glove. He's the type of player that makes a good play look great because he has a unique style and flash.
