Brian Roberts value if traded

Postby Pochucker » Fri Mar 14, 2008 1:02 pm

Was wondering change to his value if he goes to Cubbies? I would think he would still bat leadoff. Im sure he would approach career high in runs. Not sure how it effects his steals -- some players need significant time to adjust to new pitchers "moves". Have seen him go anywhere from 3rd rd to 6th rd in 12 teamers.. Any thoughts?

Don't see it changing his value much. Maybe cost him some SBs as he adjusts. Could get more runs, but not a lot more. The Cubbies only project to 30-50 more runs than the O's had last year.

His value definitely goes up. I don't think the O's offense will be that great.

Yadier matchups would make for less steals in a few matchups perhaps? :-?

I think his value goes up but Baltimore was running everyone last year at every chance they had, remember that..

I might be in the minority on this one, but I think his value might go down. He ran all the time last year in BAL and ended up with 50 SBs, no way he does that on the Cubbies (look at Soriano's attemps last year compared to WAS).

He will get more runs in that offense, but that's the only upside I see in this whole deal

Soriano was hurt last year so I don't think that is the best comparision.

True, but if you look at last year's SB attempts:

BAL: 185
CHC: 118

It seems logical that BRob won't run as much if in Chicago. Baltimore has weaker middle of the order hitters, so they are going to be more prone to producing runs (i.e. stealing bases) this year.
