It sounds like his rehab is progressing, throwing off the mound again today. Everything I see says that he should be back right after the all-star break.

Is he worth picking up and stashing on the dl until then?

How legitimate is the chance that he doesn't even come back at all this season?

I certainly think it's worth a shot. It's hard in leagues with default settings though.

I've tried this plenty of times, typically it doesn't work out. Players that you definitely want will go on the DL and you have to use the DL slot.

I wouldn't use a draft pick but if you have a bad waiver spot and there isn't anyone of immediate value, I would try it.

i actually drafted Carpenter on accident (my computer took a crap during the draft and I autopicked Carpenter).
I was gonna dump him, but now I also, may stash him on my DL and see if my team stays healthy. July is a long way away, but He would be a nice addtion come then.
Anyone know when yahoo lets you put guys on the DL, im guessing at the start of the season??

whenever the team places him officially on the DL, which is just before the season start as they break camp. only 2 players so far in MLB are on the DL.

If you have the DL slot, put him there if like but as soon as someone else gets hurt, cut him. It's not worth letting Carpenter clog up any roster spot until it becomes clear when he will be back. Pedro was predicted to return after the break but didn't get back until September and the Mets were battling for the playoffs, something that St. Louis likely won't be doing this year.

I took him in the 20th round (we have a strange rule we started last year where we can keep one guy for one year that we drafted in the 20-25 round...and only give up that pick the next year if you keep him).
This year I got to keep Curtis Granderson with a 23rd round pick (one guy kept Tulo with a 22nd rounder and another got BJ Upton with a 21st rounder).

He can go along as slow as possible as far as I am concerned. Just show me what he has by the end of the year.
