How long for a first time auction?

Postby moose » Thu Feb 19, 2004 1:12 pm

Some of my fellow owners are stressing out about how long our auction will be. We have 11 teams with 23-man rosters. A total of 253 men will be auctioned? How long can we expect to be going? We're starting at 9am. Thanks for the help.

a long ass time. Especially if its your first go round with everyone. To save time. I would attempt to have everything worked out before starting. Otherwise you might spend more time discussing rules and regs than actually auctioning.

I'd project 5 hours, 7 at the max. Depends on how organized the teams are.

'A long time' sounds like a pretty good estimate. :-)

If you want to speed things up, having someone maintain a draft board with all the relevant information (players chosen, budget left for each team...) helps a lot. Having sandwiches/drinks/munchies on hand so you won't have to break for lunch might also be worth considering.

It'll take a while, but it's worth it. ;-D

We did our inaugural auction with 12 teams and 23 man rosters last year. It took just under 9 hours, but there was a TON of stuff we learned along the way. I suspect, if you are organized, you can do it in around 7.
Bah, humbug.
