Eddie C. said it as a rumor on WFAN but it kind of took off on the Internet as fact. As evidence that it is not, Pagan just came in as PHer and homered.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
It's on rotoworld now as a rumoured deal that is being worked on. I'd heard that the Mets were in the Jays camp looking at Reed Johnson/Shannon Stewart, but it wouldn't even be worth it to do a deal like this one.
This deal doesn't have to do with Beltran, does it? I would think that they just see this as a way to upgrade the team, but the question has to be asked. Beltran still can't play the outfield. I need him this year.

I think it is just and upgrade. Alou is already out. Church and Chavez are banged up and not very good to begin with.
I'm sure it has some to do with Beltran but probably OF depth in general. The Mets have Endy that can fill in for Beltran defensively but he's best used situationally. So someone like Crisp, although nothing special, can give the Mets some versatile depth for the entire OF. He can hit LHP too which would be a plus. I'm not going to get too excited about Pagan's ST success but I wouldn't mind seeing him get a shot in LF though.

Agreed on all accounts. I must admit, Beltran and Delgado certainly are scaring me.
