Baldelli already on the DL

1 for 4. Anyone know why he was taken out of the game?

They were up by a lot and he was playing OF. No need to leave him out there anymore then they have to. He made an awesome diving catch in the game and looked good in the OF. He is not going to play everyday, but he will play a good amount down the stretch IMO.

Just posted this from SI.com in another Baldelli thread. Maddon is not going to play him consecutive days. I am surprised by this, and it certainly is not positive to his 2008 value:

Baldelli's return caps a recovery that started on May 15, 2007. Baldelli missed the final 124 games of last season with a hamstring injury then missed all of this year with mitochondrial disorder, a condition that slows muscle recovery and causes fatigue.

He's had a pair of rehab assignments with Class-A Vero Beach and Double-A Montgomery, hitting a combined .257 with five homers and 16 RBIs in 24 games. Maddon knows he won't be able to play Baldelli in the outfield on consecutive days and was unsure just how long he'd last on Sunday.

Baldelli is a career .282 hitter in his sixth season with Tampa Bay.

"We'll see how it goes," he said.

Your analysis is misleading...

Just because Maddon says he "won't be able to play Baldelli in the outfield on consecutive days" does not mean Rocco will not play consecutive days, period. What's to say that he won't occasionally rotate between OF and DH duties...?
