The New York media talk about him as if he was worst than Jose Mesa. Granted he was terrible in the post season but that didnt i dotn play post season fantasy
I think he can still be a top 7 closer(behind the usual suspects)
What do you guys think?
PS Smoltz injury woes... how serious?

i've got him as the number 10 closer
Gagne
Rivera
Wagner
Foulke
Smoltz
Percival
Dotel
Isringhausen
Guardado
Benitez
he could go as high as 7, becuase he is out of the NY spotlight. He will be a good fantasy option, but the post season is a whole nother story if florida manages to get back

welcome home andy

Florida should win about 85 games, many of which will be close. FL was not compensated for the loss of Pudge or lee. Accordingly, there will be frequesnt opportunities for saves. FL has one or two good set-up men so the closer will be needed for 1 inning. Benetiz should easily save 35 or more but probably less than 40. I think he will be cheap(er) based upon the fear that he can't throw strikes and can't move the abll around. I would pay up to $15 for him or pick him in the 6-8 round

Benitez could go anywhere, but after the big 5 (Gagne, Smoltz, Wagner, Foulke, Rivera) he should definately be considered. Benitez's career K/9 is 11.8 - do you know how many people had better than 11.8 K/9 last season? One. Eric Gagne, and he broke the all time K/9 record. Benitez also has a good save conversion % despite what most people believe. His 85% success rate is the same as Wagner, Foulke and Rivera. Not bad company. He's a good sleeper if you can get him after guys like Dotel and Izzy go off the board. Most people have forgotten about him because of all the bad publicity he got in NY.
