Mar 11 1B Billy Butler hiked his spring average to .400 (12-for-30) when he collected two hits against Arizona on Tuesday. He homered and drove in four runs while serving as the cleanup hitter.
another stellar spring performance for him yesterday. i'm just hoping it translates into his summer performance, i'm hoping for big things from him this year.

Gordon's got that 5 tool potential, but Butler is already so polished as a hitter. Unless they cut Butler's AB because of defensive liabilities, he'll be a nice source of AVG and RBIs. Gordon's more hit or miss, in my opinion. Remember, he's never even seen AAA pitching, so it may take him a while to adjust...

I'm not a huge stats guy, and i'm fairly new to fantasy baseball, but those seem like decent numbers, and power should increase with age and strength. So, here's to hoping for some BIG numbers this year and years to come.

In what? Real or fantasy? In fantasy, I still think Gordon will be more valuable but there is a good chance that Butler is better. In real life, I like Butler's bat more and I think he will have a better career than Gordon.

One of his top ten comparable players is Albert Pujols.
His top 4 comparable players include Greg Luzinski, Gary Carter, and Paul Konerko.
As BP pointed out, he's just the third Royal to get 300 ABs at age 21 or younger. Among that group of 3, Butler had the best performance, out-performing George Brett.

Right, I also think Gordon has the pedigree to carry more value in the future, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Butler come out on top. His plate discipline just seems a ways ahead of Gordon at this point and could turn in a better '08. Not bad considering that Gordon is usually a mid-draft pick while Butler could be had later.
