Hey I'm just looking to compete, because usually I just reach and draft a team of all Indians because I never wanted to do the super research needed for baseball. Sorry my post count is low here, I'm more of a football cafe guy, but I've been getting really into baseball this year.
Anyway I hooked myself up with a nice early morning Yahoo! draft (standard 12-team. I had Pick #10) and here is what resulted. Note: I am well aware that I don't have enough pitching. I am gonna try and trade some depth for some pitching and comb waivers for some rising stars.
C - Russell Martin (Pick 34) 1B - Adrian Gonzalez (Pick 82) 2B - Ian Kinsler (Pick 63) 3B - Ryan Braun (Pick 15) SS - Derek Jeter (Pick 39) OF - Nick Markakis (Pick 58) OF - Nick Swisher (1B, OF) (Pick 106) OF - Matt Kemp (Pick 111) Util - Jermaine Dye (OF) (Pick 130) BN - Jarrod Saltalamacchia (C, 1B) (Pick 159) BN - Johnny Damon (OF) (Pick 183) BN - Jeff Kent (2B) (Pick 207... steal?) BN - Casey Blake (1B, 3B, OF)
SP - Johan Santana (Pick 10) SP - Scott Kazmir (Pick 87) RP - Rafael Soriano (Pick 154) RP - Joe Borowski (Pick 178) P - Yovani Gallardo (SP) (Pick 135) P - Oliver Perez (SP) (Pick 202) P - Tom Gorzelanny (SP) (Pick 226) BN - Zack Greinke (SP, RP) (Pick 250)
Like I said, I think I'm pretty deep. I'm just lacking in multi-position players, but I think I'm good. I have all my proverbial bases covered... but what do smarter people than I think?
Thanks for your help, and I'll do my best if you want assistance!
edit: posted when I drafted people...

That's a great team right there. You could use another reliever to help out your ratios weekly. Cut Blake and pick up a Neshek,Okajima,Accardo,Betancourt,Broxton type if their not already taken.
Awesome, awesome team. I like Ryan Braun, Matt Kemp, and Gorzelanny. You might want to watch out for Johnny Damon and his many injuries. He is listed as a probable starter for the beginning of the season, and he wasn't really 100% last season, so keep an eye out for outfield steals like Michael Cuddyer or Melky Cabrera.
very solid team! I really like the hitting depth, I might try and package a deal with Kent for someone in need of a 2B in order to upgrade elsewhere (RP?)
Overall very nice team, I'd comb the Yahoo waiver wire and look to find hidden gems that might not have been drafted that will produce this season...ie..Hamilton (probably gone), Ellsbury, Longoria, and some of the Japanese players, Fukudome, just to name a few.
Thanks for the help, sorry it took so long to get back to you:
Overall I wouldn't want to face this team right now. One thing, I don't know if I would carry 2 catchers. Both are serviceable, maybe you could go for depth at closer.

i agree with this, cut blake for someone more useful. To be honest though i think your pitching is much stronger then your think you have the best pitcher in the game w. Johan and then Kazmir is a BIG strikeout guy. I also like perez and gallardo. You need saves though but youll be able to find that on the wire.
You should be active throughout the season and be on the lookout for any RP that emerge, such as Jeremy Accardo last year. One more closer would be great.
I think Russel Martin is good enough for the whole season. See if you can trade Jarrod for a pitcher. Otherwise, the offence is ridiculously good, and pitching just need some more twitching.

Good luck!!
My thoughts exactly. You can always find a RP later in the year..guys get hurt, loose their job, etc..and others always emerge.
Also, I really like your Catcher situation. Martin will be solid all year and therefore you can shop Jarrod for an upgrade elsewhere.
