He is still a legitimate MLB slugger but the sideshow he brings with him turns off most teams. I think on the field, he could be a difference maker for a team making the playoffs and not.

I'm giving him a shot in my league with OPS.

Well, as a team you have to weigh the negatives of his baggage, personality and media attention (along with his age and health concerns) against the pros of his production when healthy. That production is nothing to scoff at, so I'd think that some team would take a chance on him, especially if the price keeps dropping.

Not to mention you are signing a contract w/ a guy who could very well face suspension, indictment, Jerry Springer, who knows what else, this season. I don't see Barry signing w/ anybody for peanuts, an incentive-laden, Prior-esque contract to DH or anything like that. I can't see too many owners being all that interested in getting a deal and then finding out somebody found some memos in his trash 5 years ago that will call your $5 million or whatever into question.

Yes, I picked him up in a late round, draft day, keeper league trade, just in case he plays. I had extra picks, so it hasn't cost yet. If he plays for an AL team as DH, it will be more than worht it. I've been keeping my ears open for any sign of a signing. IF he plays, he'll be worht it.
