Randy Winn or Shannon Stewart?

Postby mattusd » Sat Mar 01, 2003 5:16 pm

Winn had a great year last year w/ a horrible supporting cast. but he hit only .245 in august and .261 in september after combining for .360 during june and july, plus he only hit .263 away from home.

but he's going to be surrounded by better players this year and will eclipse his run totals most likely.

what does everyone think about him this year? do you think he's worth picking over Shannon Stewart and Darin Erstad, who are similar players?

i'm asking because i need to add speed to my team... i'm not a fan of erstad so i've already ruled him out... basically, i need to decide between winn and stewart. do you think stewart can start stealing more bags, or will winn surpass him this year in steals and every other category besides avg? will Winn suffer now that he's not at the Trop where he hit .325 last year?

stewart hits well both home and away, basically, my question is who do you think is the superior player, especially since i need to add speed to my team

If your sole concern is stolen bases, go with Winn. His average may drop a bit, but he'll compensate with more runs.

Although that K/BB ratio is pretty ugly...

Its close.... I give edge to Stewart in Runs, and Avg...I give Winn edge in HRs,RBIs, and SB....Overall if I had to choice I may go with Stewart but to answer your question Winn will probably give you more SBs
