Matt Kemp - the real deal?

Postby NYCBuckeye » Tue Mar 11, 2008 12:50 pm

I have been reading a lot of good things about Matt Kemp (with one publication comparing him to a young Manny). I admitedly didn't follow him much last year, but this press has opened my eyes a bit: what is the deal with this kid? Seems like he strikes out a lot, but he has a decent average and good numbers for a short time-frame. Any feedback on him, and his potential for 2008 and beyond (I am in a keeper league), would be greatly appreciated .... thanks!

Nothing? Is he even the official starter, or will he platoon?

He will be starting and yes he is the real deal. I expect big things from Kemp this season.

We're all pretty big on Kemp here on the Cafe.........if you want a real good take on him, go search the 2008 Predictions forum, and there's a pretty good discussion there, on what we project to see from him this year. It should give you a good feel, for just how big people are on him.

Great, thanks everyone ... I will check out that post. I knew he was a talent, I guess the east-coast bias blinded me to his overall outlook. Thanks again.

going too early for my tastes. i agree he'll be an excellent player, but he's going too early for a guy that hasn't really proven it for a full season.

he's going to lose some ABs to either. and he doesn't have a track record of consistent fantasy production. i wouldn't want him as my #2 OF.
