Beckett is unsure if he will be ready for Opening Day on March 25 against the A's in Tokyo.

I've got a feeling that this might be something that haunts Beckett all year.

I have a feeling the Redsox are going to be pretty mediocre this season...

Me, too. 97 wins, tops.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.

as a becks keeper, i don't mind him not going to japan. he'll get some rest and not tire out from jetlagging. i think he should be fine by the time the team comes back from japan.

I think this is the approach the Red Sox should take.
Let him stay in the states, as back problems could easily worsen with a long flight.

An 18 hour plane ride to Tokyo can't be good for the back. Looks like Oakland will get lucky and face Wakefield and Lester (assuming Dice-K is in Boston with his wife and newborn child)

Wishful thinking from a Yankees fan ;-)

Seriously, I think it's a little early to proclaim this something that will bother him all season. It's concerning yes, but not so much that I'm panicking about it. Like others have said, he'll probably miss the Japan trip and that's probably better off. I'd expect him to be ready to go when they get back to the states.

Certainly is. ;-)

It's definitely early to make a statement like that. I'm not really basing it on anything of substance, just a gut feeling. For all I know, it will be healed by the end of the week and he'll win another 20 games this year. :-°

Josh Beckett is injured.

The sky is blue.

Nothing to see here.
