my sentiments exactly. I would personally have to strongly consider him in the 10-12 area. there is a 5-6 page thread about this topic from a couple weeks ago where I outline my reasons.
I think Braun is for real, if you can make him your 2nd player I say go for it.
He is one of the few guys you can pick in the 2nd round that could plausibly be going in the top 5 next year too, so while he might be a little bit of a bust he might be a steal as well.
The floor with him is probably something like .275, 30 HR, 15 SB, 95 R, 95 RBI so the risk isn't all that huge. That is still Carlos Lee minus the average. The upside is ARod basically.
Braun is having achilles problems which are pushing him down on my board. I don't like missing on a player in the early rounds because of injury. If I know a player is of greater risk to injury or is battling an injury then they fall on my draft board. Pujols and Braun are slipping as far as I am concerned. Because if I don't get Pujols or Braun I am still getting a good player in rounds 1 or 2. Not a good thing to get burned in the early rounds.

Weren't you talking about drafting Braun in the top 4 a couple weeks ago? Maybe you knocking him down will put you near where most people are willing to draft him.
I just traded him for a 1st round pick in my keeper. I am keeping Phillips instead and I get another shot at the top 12 players. I love Braun and I hope he does well but I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

He went 3rd overall in my keeper draft, yes 3rd after Arod and Hanley and over David Wright. I had the bookend picks 10 and 11 and was prepared to take Braun and Howard/Pujols at that spot. Losing Braun threw me for a loop as Miggy went 9th, the last of the early 3B options. I took my full time allotment deciding if I wanted to say "screw it" and take both Howard and Pujols. I chickened out and took Pujols and Crawford.

That's exactly where I like him, I took him at 13 in the H2HWS VA for the same reasons.
I'm going to beat a dead horse, but I had taken Braun with my 12th pick in a 14-team H2HWS. I even passed up on Rollins, who happened to bounce back to me at 17th (Soriano, Ortiz, Vlad, & Sizemore had gone first). It was a gamble, but I think Braun offers the best upside at that part of the draft pool as a 5-cat man, as OPS counts, and the possibility of 15-20 steals on the side. I don't think Braun regresses much, as I believe it's reasonable to believe he'll finish with his final '07 line, but about 40-50 points off the average and a bump up in runs and RBI. The only thing that will regress with him is his prorated production rate, I think.
