San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - San Francisco Giants catcher A.J. Pierzynski Wednesday won his arbitration case and will make $3.5 million next season.
The 26-year-old Pierzynski, who was acquired by San Francisco in the offseason for righthanded pitcher Joe Nathan and two minor leaguers, was being offered $2.25 million by the Giants.
Last year, Pierzynski batted .312 with 11 homers and 74 RBI in 137 games. He topped the Twins in batting and was second in hits (152), doubles (35) and RBI. An All-Star in 2002, Pierzynski had been in Minnesota's organization since he was drafted by the Twins in 1994.
Pierzynski broke into the majors in 1998 and is a career .301 hitter with 26 homers and 193 RBI in 430 games.
