Mar 9 MLB.com's Marty Noble reports New York Mets SP John Maine didn't allow any hits over four innings Sunday, March 9, in a spring contest against the Houston Astros. "He had great velocity," said Mets manager Willie Randolph. "I have a good feeling about John, that he's going to have a big year for us." Maine felt it was his best performance of the spring but thought he was still "a little off."

This guy just doesn't get much love. He's a shoe-in for at least 15 wins, decent K's, ERA and Whip...

Not a bad player. He did fizzle out a little last year though. He had 4 combined starts in Aug. and Sep. where he gave up 6 or more runs...bring his ERA up one full point (from 2.92 to 3.91) over the last two months.

Hopefully playing a full season last year has better prepared him for this year...

As far as one of the worst trades ever though, what were the Orioles thinking?
