What was the deal with Peavy in '06

Is there some kind of chink in his armor that I should know about? I am thinking about trading him and Chipper Jones for Utley and Holladay. What do you all think and know?

I think it was just one of those years where everything that could go wrong simply went wrong.

He had a small spike in FB% in the first half and a small spike in BB/9 in the 2nd half that year. Most of it was just bad luck though, high BABIP, low strand rate.

Using Shandler's xERA he has had a 3.40, 3.04, 3.60, 3.23 over the past 4 years vs ERAs of 2.28, 2.88, 4.10, 2.54. ERA is just a poor stat over a 200 IP sample so it jumps around a lot.

What the Mighty Yoda said. the WBC caused a lot of problems for pitchers in 2006, especially Peavy.

Yep. Also combine that with the fact that he had his first 200+ IP ML season in 2005 and I was a little worried about him being overworked. I was not surprised to see him have a bad 2006.
