Ok, here is how I see it.
Team B wins.
They are getting a top 3 shortstop and a stud OF. Schmidt is an injury headache and Ritchie is average. He isn't a stud, but he is worth a roster spot and not on the wire.
Team A gets a top notch starter who plays on a team that will struggle to win as the season goes on. They get a rookie from the Cubs who has potential, Uribe who hits a high average and plays at Coors, and then Estes who is on the same planet as Ritchie.
So, Ritchie/Estes cross each other out. EVEN
Jeter is a major upgrade from Uribe Advantage B
Maggs is a TREMENDOUS upgrade from Patterson Advantage B
Vasquez is a major upgrade from Schmidt Advantage A
So, there you have my analysis. Certainly not worth vetoing, but you might want to see what their rationale behind the trade might be.
I'm out!
