You can't compare a catcher getting ran over on a close play at the plate to sliding into second with your cleats two feet in the air. One is a perfectly clean, fair play that we see dozens of times every season. The other would start a fight whether it was in the regular season, spring training, an inter-squad scrimmage, or little league. Playing hard in Spring Training is one thing, playing dirty is another.
To further on this, Girardi now says that he wants his guys playing all out all the time and thats why Duncan did what he did. So which is it from Girardi - ST is not for doing this or its for all out all the time? He sounded pretty dumb on TV with his comments basically being the opposite of what he said after the catcher incident.
I'm thinking that they're just going to groove one for him so he can hit it. The Pirates could be jerks, though and just throw him 95 mph heat and curveballs.

What's really funny is that a day after saying that, his leadoff batter was Billy Crystal. Girardi is really coming off like an ass in this.
