The forgotten man seems to be Sherrill. He had a breakthrough season in 07 and could really surprise. His competition is Jamie Walker, Greg Aquino and Chris Ray if/when he returns in July.
For the money, he is probably one of the best bargains around at any position. I grabbed him with the 205th overall pick in the 20 team league last week and hoping to get him that late in my money league tomorrow.

I actually just noticed he didn't get drafted in my 12 team...would you drop Percival or Wilson for him?
Agree with Yoda. The average fantasy owner doesnt know he's a closer...obviously theres risks because he's in the AL East but he's probably going undrafted in a lot of leagues. I'm also trying to target Gagne, I think he'll be a big surprise this year. Soria is going pretty late also
I've been drafting greg aquino in like the last rounds of my draft. I think he is in the frontrunning to be the closer, but if he is not, no biggy I only lost out on my last pick of the draft for a potential closer.
sherrill is getting widely ignored imo, the orioles are going to want to show some immediate return for bedard for the fans so i'm pretty sure his job is somewhat secure...also he posted a sick 11.04 K/9 last year with a pretty solid 3.35 BB/9, could be a break out closer this year imo
Sherrill is intriguing but he's a flyball pitcher (55% last year) and his hit % last year was well below norm; his xERA was 3.68 vs. his actual 2.36 ERA. His biggest improvement seemed to be against right-handers but the small sample size gives me pause:
19 IP, 1.11 WHIP, .212 BAA against RHH last season.
In 2006 vs. RHH: 16 IP, 2.37 WHIP, .297 BAA.
Assuming that he'll be facing a lot of RHH off the bench, it will be interesting to see if he can sustain the improvement against RHH.
Hardly bad as an end game choice I suppose.

arg, i just realized yoda beat me to the punch with sherrill, gotta remember to at least skim the other posts before i make my own
just so this post contributes somewhat...i might take a shot with benoit in weaker leagues, cj wilson is out for an undetermined amount of time and the only other real competition in that bullpen is guardado (lol)...benoit was great last season and could be solid in the closers role if given a shot
I wait until the elites get taken, then try to get Wagner, Rivera, Jenks, or Street in the 8th or 9th round. Then wait a few rounds and go for Soria or Capps. Might get one of the last available closers, if possible in the later rounds.

Soria and Capps don't really last much longer than Wagner and Rivera. Soria and Capps have been taken in the 10-12 range of my drafts. It may just be a 2 round difference between Wagner/Rivera and Soria/Capps.

I didn't realize Wilson was sidelined. I smell a return to dominance by Everyday Eddie... Benoit didn't look so hot in the closers role last season. I bet Guardado gets the first crack at the job.
