Really Excited

Postby BamaHallofFamers » Sat Mar 01, 2003 3:56 pm

I'm really excited about the new look Atlanta Braves. As for fantasy players I really thibk having Chipper Jones, Andruw Jones, Gary Sheffield and Robert Fick on your team wouldn't hurt. Fick will have his biggest year in my opinion.

Their starting pitching should be stable if not striving. I like Paul Byrd, Russ Ortiz, Mike Hampton, Greg Maddux and Jason Marquis. What is not to like about John Smoltz? ;-D

I think the Braves will have a good year this season, but why sign Maddux for $14 million and drop Millwood? I think it would have been much better to take Millwood instead of Maddux, but that's just my opinion.

I hope I am wrong, but I think Greg Maddux will spend more and more time on the DL. I think Kevin Millwood will be a great pitcher, but from my sources or things I've read, his arm is not 100%.

I really like them picking up Mike Hampton. Great hitter too.

Also think Johnny Estrada would and could produce if allowed to play 140 games or more.

I don't think Robert Fick is gonna have that great of a year, simply because there's no place for him to play. The only thing I can think of is that the Braves move Chipper back over to 3B, where Vinny Castilla is barely a warm body any more, opening up an OF spot.

It'd also be nice if they let Fick play catcher, but I doubt he'll get more than 10 games or so at catcher. Would be nice to be wrong here, though.

(edit: oh, it looks like they have him penciled in at 1B for right now... interesting.)
