Ask Jamie Moyer what it was like to pitch to Johjima two years ago and maybe you'll understand why he dashed off to Philly. Jeff Weaver's struggles last year could have something to do with who was behind the plate. Joh has struggled with catching in America and handling the Mariners staff. He seems to be learning but you should keep this in mind when evaluating how well Bedard, Felix, et al might do this year. How will Bedard adjust to this guy???
Here's a good column from Art Thiel in this morning's Seattle P-I:

Jeff Weaver has sucked for awhile now, and Jamie Moyer hasn't been much to brag about for several seasons, either -- in fact, in Seattle last year he was pitching right around career average. His WHIP dropped sharply after leaving for Philly, but again, with Johjima he was what he's been his entire career.
It's a good read, and I think Johjima will be fine, playing for a contract; though I can't imagine in Seattle with who they've got coming up.
I think I remember a couple posts last year that showed Felix pitched better when Johjima was not catching. As a Bedard and Felix owner, hopefully they get on the same page.
90% of my posts are from complaining about my team
I'd just like to point out that J.J. Putz became an absolute monster the same year Johjima joined the team... not that I think it means anyhthing but you can find examples that go both ways.
As for Jeff Weaver and Horacio Ramirez... they just suck, plain and simple. It wouldn't matter if God was catching with those guys on the mound.
