Pecota v.s. Shandler

I have spent 2 weeks compiling my rankings and this year I am taking Pecota and Baseball HQ (Ron Shandler) projections into my thoughts.

Does anyone have any past results of how these 2 do in hitting and pitching?

Here are the projections that I have used the past 2 years to win 3 or 4 leagues.

Fantasy sports central average.

CBS,ESPN,FOX,KFFL,CAFE averages.

Now this year I am also looking at Shandler and Pecota.

I am pretty sure they are both very similar in terms of track record. They are both good sources although I only use BP now.

Thought I read awhile back that BP were great with hitting and Zips the best at pitching. Not sure but after looking over the BP and Shandler, they seem dead on. Shandler has some preaty high projections for some pitchers that I wonder about.

I think year will be the first year that I have done where your position in the first round might not matter at all, just my op.

Projecting and valuing is not exact science and that is the beauty of the game. It is mostly all based on opinion and guesswork.

I don't think any one projection system stands that far above everyone else. I like to look at as many projections each year and form my own opinions about a player.

I had mentioned last year that I thought that it would be interesting to add up all the projections for pitchers and hitters and see if they are 'even' in that the number of hits for the hitters and pitchers would be even. I don't crunch numbers myself but just use them for a rough guide but, w/ the Shandler spreadsheets handy, SUM of the H column for the AL shows 21841 hits for hitters but 22912 hits given up by the pitchers. That doesn't make sense unless the NL were pwning the AL?
