No doubt!
I am a Cubs fan and a Roberts owner. I was hoping to be able to root for him and my Cubbies at the same time soon. Hopefully, this will spark the Cubs mgmt to pull the trigger on this long awaited trade with the O's!
Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail said Wednesday that a Brian Roberts deal with the Cubs is off the table. "We worked at it this long, and we don’t have deal," MacPhail said. "There are other sides charactering it as an impasse. You make the judgment." The Cubs are believed to have asked the Nats about Felipe Lopez in the event that they couldn't get Roberts, but they'll probably be content with Mark DeRosa for now.
Looks like the talks have all but fell off the table . The Cubs have even released their insurance policy in Cintron:
Per Rotoworld:
Cubs released infielder Alex Cintron. Cintron was signed primarily as an insurance policy in case Ronny Cedeno or Mike Fontenot was involved in a Brian Roberts trade. Now that those talks have cooled off, he was was deemed
Personally as a Cubs fan & Roberts owner, I was really hoping this would happen. Hopefully the Cubs management sees how valuable Roberts is and the Orioles come to their senses and take the trade offer soon
As a roberts owner who managed to get him for only $6 in an AL only league I am THRILLED!!!! I snagged Cano kinda early and he was sitting there for $5 cause everyone was scared to take him if he got delt. Rolled the dice and looks like it payed of for at least 3 months of the season.

That is certainly a possibility, but if the Cubbies are playing well early, than they wont trade. A trade deadline deal is more likely.

Sure, Theriot will be fine, but I imagine the Cubs would like an upgrade over Derosa...
I'm a big Cubs' fan and I don't really think Theriot is "fine" as a leadoff hitter. Solid player, scrappy, steals some bases...but not a real good option as a leadoff hitter, IMO. The Cubs once again enter the season without a true, legit, table-setting leadoff guy and it's going to hurt them some. Roberts isn't the end all, be all, but he's a switch hitter and a sizable upgrade over Theriot. Very frustrating that they weren't able to get this done.
