Whose going to be the starting 2B in Colorado this season? Giles, Nix, or someone else? Is it going to be a platoon? Haven't heard much about the situation after the departure of Kaz.

Giles, Nix, Jeff Baker, and Ian Stewart are in the position battle for second. Too early to tell.

Recently I read a blurb on rotoworld that had Nix as the frontrunner and Baker as his main competition. Their source was a local paper...

You gotta think they're going to give Giles a fair look. I mean, he's the only one with significant starting experience. I know he's been REAL bad the past couple of years, but before then he was a borderline all-star.

Any chance of Quintanilla being in the running? Man they've got a lot of 2B.

You'd think we could/would trade some of these players.

I think Baker or Giles gets the job
I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment

ESPN's article on spring training battles (Link, dated yesterday) has Nix as the frontrunner, but mentions how wide open it is.

I don't know too much about any of these guys except for Giles, but I can't see why they wouldn't gives Nix a shot after his season last year and his off-season accolades. Giles just seems like such a yawn here. I'd think they'd rather be younger if they could, and see if the kid can cut big-league pitching.

Now that I've heard about him, I wish I would have taken the time to catch a few of his minor league games in the Springs while I was living there last year.... oh well... :-]

Wow. Baker at 2nd. If Baker gets that job, he could be a GREAT sleeper.

Totally agree. He could end up a nice power/avg threat...
