Draft is Over. How did I do??

Postby Fantasy Addict » Sun Mar 02, 2008 7:41 pm

I just completed a draft with 11 other competetive players. I won the league last year and now the bulls-eye is on me. I am real curious to know how the Fantasy Cafe feels I came out of the heated draft. This is a 12 team league, and the settings are such that emphasises a balanced team. For example: You can not dominate HR's and RBI's and neglect runs, SB's, and Avg. This is a head-to-head league. Settings:

C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF, Util, Util, SP, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, RP, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL

Stat Categories: R, HR, RBI, SB, BB, K, TB, FPCT, AVG, W, L, SV, BB, K, ERA, WHIP, K/9

(LAD - C)

(LAD - 1B)

Robinson Canó STARTING
(NYY - 2B)

Chipper Jones STARTING
(Atl - 3B)

Carlos Guillén STARTING AT SS
(Det - 1B,SS)

Matt Holliday STARTING
(Col - LF)

Andruw Jones STARTING
(LAD - CF)

Gary Sheffield STARTING
(Det - LF,RF)

(Cle - 1B)

(Bos - 1B,3B)

Khalil Greene
(SD - SS)

Justin Upton
(Ari - RF)

Bengie Molina
(SF - C)

Conor Jackson
(Ari - 1B)

Pedro Feliz
(Phi - 3B)

Jake Peavy
(SD - SP)

James Shields
(TB - SP)

Francisco Liriano
(Min - SP)

Rich Hill
(ChC - SP)

Brad Lidge
(Phi - RP)

Eric Gagne
(Mil - RP)

Joe Borowski
(Cle - RP)

Heath Bell
(SD - RP)

C.J. Wilson
(Tex - RP)

Orlando Hernández
(NYM - SP)

Jair Jurrjens
(Atl - SP)

Holiday was my 1st pick overall. I drafted in the 5th position and passed up Reyes for him. I have reyes in another league so I didnt want to put all my eggs in one basket. Peavy was my secnd rnd pick(19th overall). My third rnder was the all-world catcher. I reached in the 4th round because all the SS's were taken, and grabbed Guillen who is playing at 1st this year, but qualifies as a SS. Other notables: I took a flyer on liriano in the 11th rnd. I think my vision of a dominating season like I had last year rests on his shoulders. Bengie Molina was a steal in the 2nd to last pick of the draft.

I know I need work at RPing. I am not worried because I am an active player, and I will grab a closer from free agency when one is sure to get the nod.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated and returned. Thanks in advance!

Looks like you have an all around good team for a 12-team competitive league.

Here are some of my thoughts:

-Russell Martin was a nice pick up.
-I like everyone in your IF except for Chipper. I don't see him staying healthy for almost all season again. Supposedly he already tweaked his hamstring.
-Holliday is a fantasy beast, and I'd rather have him over Reyes. Your OF is pretty good. I wouldn't expect a 40 HR season out of Andruw, but low to mid 30s is not out of reach.
-Personally, I think Sheff's best days are behind him...but being in such a good lineup he will naturually produce RBI and score R.
-Justin Upton may end up having a better season than Sheffield. Nice sleeper pick.

- I like Peavy and Shields a lot this year.
- Hill is very solid, especially for a 3rd best starter.
- Don't expect the world from Liriano, but I think he will begin to return to form this season.
- You already know you need to work on RP. But it's not that bad. Just get a reliable closer to replace Gagne or Lidge.

Well, that's my two cents. I would appreciate your feedback on my topic.
