MESA, Ariz. -- Chicago Cubs outfielder Alfonso Soriano will miss up to five days after he fractured his right middle finger during practice on Sunday.
The team said the right-handed Soriano broke the finger while working on fly ball drills.
Isn't 5 days pretty optimistic?
the reason the recovery time seems short is because you have the story a little wrong- soriano has a "non-displaced fracture of the middle finger" -and i think standard recovery for something like that is a couple days of rest - a fracture and a break are the same thing, but a non-displaced fracture is very mild compared to a full break (which is what i think you were alluding to)
