Beast2351 wrote:Hey everyone, i just did my draft yesterday, its a 10 team league with the standard 5x5. 162 GP limit per position, 1250 total IP limit. I had the first pick (odviously since i have A-Rod). Let me know what you guys think:
C: Russell Martin
1B: Paul Konerko
2B: Brandon Phillips
SS: Carlos Guillen
3B: Alex Rodriguez
OF: Carlos Beltran
OF: Bobby Abreu
OF: Johnny Damon
Util: Jim Thome
Util: James Loney
Bench: Raul Ibanez
Bench: Michael Cuddyer
Bench: Gary Bennett (just picked him up since i figured it would help to have Martin's backup so i could reach my 162 GP for the catcher position)
SP: C.C. Sabathia
SP: Chris Young
SP: Fausto Carmona
SP: Kelvim Escobar
SP: Derek Lowe
RP: Mariano Rivera
RP: Kevin Gregg
Bench: Ian Kennedy
Bench: Mark Buerhle
A few questions i have for you guys are: 1. is it worth it to have Gary Bennett so i can use him for Martin's off days? or will his average and stuff just cause damage. 2. With Escobar out until May should i start Kennedy or Buerhle ? I'm thinking about just going by the match up. 3. Should i start Raul Ibanez regularly? If so, for who?
Thanks!
1. I would just stick with Russell Martin. He is the first or second best catcher in baseball, so there is no need to play his backup on off days.
2. Just start whoever is starting that day. Put Escobar on your DL at the start of the season, and if Kennedy is starting one day, you start him. If Buerhle is starting the other, move him in.
3. I would play Ibanez ahead of Thome. He is much more consistent and won't strike out as much.
Overall, you have a good team.
Help on mine? Thanks.
