Why is no one very high on this kid? He had an incredible rookie year, but certainly was somewhat disappointing last year. I heard he has come into ST in much better shape. Wasn't he a 1st rd pick?
He was solid for wins, but I don't think his ceiling is too high and also the only consistently great, healthy pitcher in the Angels rotation is John Lackey. (Escobar: good but often injured, Ervin Santana: young but crap, Colon is now a fat scrap for the Red Sox)
I think he doesn't get a lot of attention because he's not a big time strikeout pitcher, which limits his value in many leagues. He does have the potential to rack up a lot of wins and post a solid ERA and WHIP though, so he's definitely someone to remember on draft day.
I see him having a great year this year. Like ILLmjd said, he'll be great for ERA & WHIP. If last year was considered his sophomore "slump", this year should be a good year for managers who picked him up.
I'm also a big fan of him. Considering his sparkling minor league/college experience + his first half season, he is really being undervalued this year. I read that he came into spring training last year out of shape etc. This year, just the opposite. I figure the worst he'll do this year is post a value higher than his ADP.
The reason that not too many people are probably high on him is because any time a young pitcher has injury trouble it sends bad vibes. Everyone hates a headache of having a guy you're depending on on the dl. If he has another quality year like his rookie season (doesn't ever play like his big brother) and stays healthy for the whole season, showing durability, he'll get more looks next year...

Yeah, the only thing that him and big brother have in common are their tempers, and he worked on that a bunch throughout the season last year.
I was high on him last year and got burned, so I have a bad taste in my mouth. Also, since his brother Jeff has been a fantasy nightmare of mine for years, I plan to stay away from the entire family.
