Your 2008 All-Canadian Team

Postby Mookie4ever » Sun Mar 02, 2008 2:37 pm

C - Russell Nathan Coltrane Jeanson Martin Jr. - LAD - all star, gold glove and silver slugger in 2007
1B - Justin Morneau - Min Twins - 2006 MVP
2B - Joey Votto - Cin - 2008 ROY - playing a little out of position
3B - Mark Teahen - KC Royals
SS - Pete Orr - Nats
OF - Jason Bay - Bucs - All star 2006
OF - Matt Stairs - Blue Jays
OF - James Cockman - played last century but you gotta love the name

P - Erik Bedard - Seattle - 13-5 3.16 ERA 221K in 2007
P - Jeff Francis - opening day starter for the Rox
P - Rich Harden - Oakland - 31-18 3.60 ERA
P - Shawn Hill - Nats - usually injured but a good sleeper
MR - Ryan Braun - KC Royals
MR - Jesse Crain - Min Twins - 3.16 career ERA - set record for most consecutive wins in relief to start a career
CL - Eric Gagne - douche - Mil Brewers - 177 career saves

Not bad. Need some infielders and some outfield depth but the pitching is pretty good.

Votto at second? He isn't even a great first baseman.

It's Canada... we have to give them a break...

Why not put Martin Brodeur at 2B?

Steve Nash would probably be better :-B

Dempster should be on the list somewhere. Also, I think Adam Loewen is better than Hill.

Teahen's not Canadian according to BRef. Dempster is. You could try to get Corey Koskie to come out of retirement. Adam Loewen would be your Canadian fantasy sleeper this year. Adam Stern would be another OFer, providing some defensive back-up for Stairs.

But, he still might outplay Adam Stern....and he's probably just as good a fielder as Matt Stairs.

Ryan Dempster is not coming anywhere near my team.
Steve Nash is my utility infielder. He can do anything.
Teahen was born in the US but he is Canadian.
Adam Stern doesn't make the team b/c he played for the Red Sox.
Stubby Clapp is our other utility infielder, Bill Wennington is our backup outfielder.
