The point is that Pena has a long history of not living up to the hype. One year shouldn't change your opinion too much (think Adrian Beltre).

The thing I like about Carlos Pena is that he draws a lot of walks. To me, a guy with elite power and a good eye should have a better chance of repeating success than a guy with just the power. I wouldn't be shocked to see Pena put up typical Adam Dunn-type numbers (35-40 HRs, 100 runs, 100 RBI), which isn't too shabby at all, even if it does come with an average in the .260 range. And it's not like Pena came completely out of nowhere. Perhaps he's just a late bloomer?

i wouldn't say that pena has never lived up to the hype. first, there was not all that much hype for him. second, he never really got a legitimate shot until last year. the rays don't have a very good team, but they have an ok lineup. he will probably not repeat last year, but he's still going to be good. 5th round might be a bit of a reach, but i wouldn't say you killed your season. if you had said 3rd round, that'd be a different story. even if he turns out to be a 7th/8th round quality player, you're not going to be disappointed.
