Carlos Pena.......

Whats your guys' take on him for this year? I picked him up real early and am now starting to rethink this, I picked him up in the 5th round.

Anyways, is it too much to expect him to put out at least 40 HR's this year?

I don't think he'll have near the stats he had last year. I'll say 25-30 HRs and a .275 BA.

From where he is getting drafted, I would never ever take him. One good season in my mind is a career year and usually doesn't translate to a stud 1B IMO.

If thats the case why is Ryan Braun being taken mid 2nd round?

Carlos Pena is entering his eigth season in the MLB.

While I think last year's numbers won't be repeated. I believe he can still get you 35ish HR's and a .275 avg. He's got solid protection in Tampa. Plus he doesn't have an ago so I'm not worried about him taking it easy now, etc...

I wouldnt think taking pena in the 5th is going to burn you. I think you could be sweating nothing....

I am obliged to be a career-long Carlos Pena fan after he single-handedly led me to my fantasy league title last year. While my studs like Reyes and Morneau slumped down the stretch, it was Pena who held together my team.

Granted, I doubt he will repeat last year. But landing a top 10 first-baseman in the 5th round is nothing to kick yourself about. Pena won't make you regret that pick.
