I finally drafted my first fantasy baseball team ever, and I'd like some idea of how well I did, and what I might want to look for to upgrade the team.
C - Johjima 1 - Ryan Howard 2 - BJ Upton 3 - D Wright SS - D Jeter 2B/SS - Tejeda 1/3 - P Konerko O - Sizemore Chris Young Delmon Young J Ellsbury Cuddyer DH Hafner Bench - Evan Longoria, Barry Bonds
Pitching Lackey Harang Mariano Rivera Matt Cain Rafael Soriano M Capps J Soria Arroyo Gorzelany Bench Mark Prior
Any comments, feedback, strategy, etc, will be greatly appreciated. Esp. since one of the drafters commented that it was the dumbest draft he's ever seen. lol so I'd really like to beat this guy.
What kind of a league is this? And he was probably just going nuts after you drafted Bonds. How many teams are there and what pick did you have? IMO your team looks great minus Bonds.
Without knowing details about your league, your team certainly doesn't look like the result of the worst draft I've ever seen, so I don't know what your opponent was talking about.
you have to tell us how many teams are in your league and what catagories you get points for. youmust nothave many teams because of all the positions you use.
i love david wright. you did great with pick #1. ryan howard, bj upton, and grady sizemore are great studs to have on your offense.
just keep your eyes open for pitching on the waiver wire. some names to think about, zack greinke, micah owings, edwin jackson, matt garza, and see if the closers cj wilson or george sherrill are still available.

Owings, Jackson, Garza, and Sherrill are available. Also Broxton, Tom Gordon, Heath Bell, who I've seen mentioned in other postings. Who of them would be worth picking up, and for whom?
Also, your topic isnt a link so I can't click on it! :(
Your team is pretty strong all the way around. You could upgrade at catcher, which isn't a very significant position. Another choice would be another SP. You could pick up the next best rated. Those are some choices, but with the team you have, I would simply stay put for a while until someone drops a talent that can help you out.
well, i like your team overall i dont think you should go making a lot of changes.
maybe another outfielder instead of bonds. billy butler? hes got a nice stick and can play 1st base.
if you want another pitcher at this point id say go with broxton and then bell.
just watch the young sp's because some of them will pan out, but we arnt sure who yet. so far owings has looked bad, jackson has looked good and i havent heard if garza had pitched yet. of course it is VERY early.
watch and see if someone makes a dumb move and drops a good pitcher. someone dropped clay bucholtz in one league and yovanni gallardo in another this week for me.
oh and hang on to mark prior. im from sd and the word around here is hes baaack. of course that may just be propaganda, but he does have great upside playing in petco.
sleeper cathcer to watch, jr towles, is he still out there?
