obviously baseball was a different game when ruth was playing..... put ruth up against pedro or mariano rivera and hed probly bat .265.... and im a yankee fan for life. A-Rod has and will continue to put up the dominant offensive seasons.

This is something I really am not sure about. Who here has real knowledge of how much diffrent the game used to be. What are thoughts and oppinions on the diffrence back then and now. Some would argue well if Babe was on roids imagine how many HR's he would hit....So what do you guys think, were the pitchers not as deadly back then and if Ruth was going aginst Pedro, Schilling, RJ, Prior he would not have blasted so many??? What do you guys think, how much diffrent is the game 2day.

I hope you are kidding? Let Arod face Lefty Grove or Walter Johnson? Ruth didn't have the luxury of 14 expansion teams.

Arod in 98 earned $48. A great year, but not best. Gagne, Bonds, Sosa, RJ, Pedro all have had $50+ years.
There is a false notion that in Ruths day nobody could pitch. If you look at the best pitchers ever, quite alot were pre 1950. Ruth didn't have to face colored people, but Ruth also didn't see AA and AAA expansion pitchers like now either. BB back then drew the best athletes. BB now, gets the leftovers from football and basketball.
