Keeper League Setup

I read some of the recent threads here regarding setting up a keeper league, but I wanted to ask something more specific.

My league is starting a keeper league now. I am not the league commissioner, but the commish is putting everything up for a vote, so I want to come back with some good info.

So far, the only thing decided is that each team will get to keep 6 players. We use a snake draft. We are trying to decide this - for each player kept, what draft pick do you lose? In other words, if you keep a player you drafted in the 18th round, you would lose an 18th round pick in the next draft. But what do you do about free agent pick-ups? For instance, if we started last season, and if someone wanted to keep Braun for this season (who was undrafted last season), what should happen?

Any advice would be appreciated!

I wouldn't reward WW pickups over guys drafted so I'd just set a standard that every WW guy costs a 12th or 10th round draft pick the first year they're kept and then normal keeper escalations, whatever you decide to use, thereafter.
