New Yahoo - 5x5 roto

Postby Invictus » Fri Feb 29, 2008 1:43 pm

It's that time of year again!

Just finished drafting (I really think drafting this early is silly, but it's a for fun league anyway, so I'm not worried.)

Two things I'm worried about are pitching and the fact that I have so many Cubs on my team... I feel like Im giving myself some bad karma :-p, but Wood and Lieber were really just safety picks (last two picks...see how they do), and I think Soto will do well. Other than that - any specific suggestions and general thoughts?

C Geovany Soto
1B Travis Hafner
2B Chase Utley
3B Garrett Atkins
SS Rafael Furcal
OF Grady Sizemore
OF Curtis Granderson
OF Shane Victorino
Util Aaron Rowand
BN Adrián Béltre
BN Ryan Theriot
BN Kazuo Matsui

SP Justin Verlander
SP Rich Hill
RP Takashi Saito
RP Billy Wagner
P A.J. Burnett
P Chad Billingsley
P Curt Schilling
BN Kerry Wood
BN Jon Lieber

overall i see a pretty decent team. your pitching is pretty worrisome tho. its has been my thinking that 3 closers are nice to have in a roto league, that should nab you a couple (2-4) pts in that cat with some nice ratios. i also see your starters as one ace, and the rest no. 3 or 4s.
i like your lineup, but going utley first, you needed to go after 2 or 3 BIG bats soon after, so i see your power cats takin a bump, especialliy with granderson, victorino, rowand, and furcal.

You have a good team. Strong Outfield, Strong Infield, but decent pitching. I would try and get a reliable pitcher.

I am assuming it was 12 teams right?

I think on offence, you do need to seek more power. After all, you have enough speed.

On pitching, as the season goes along, you may want to keep a lookout for any hot pitchers, as well as any potential closers that emerge.

Good luck.

Yes, it is a twelve team league. I was thinking of maybe packaging up Sizemore and Hill for ??? --- any suggestions for an equal value? Or should I be aiming for a closer?

Do not trade Sizemore for any SP.

I think Verlander, R.Hill and Billingsley will all be solid this year.
Burnett is injury prone, but he does provide quality IP when healthy (very high K/IP ratio).
Schilling and Lieber should be dropped........what are the other options on WW?
